The actress, best known for portraying Kate on Lost, will portray a woodland elf named Tauriel. She’s a new character to the series, as teased by Peter Jackson on his Facebook page:
“Her name means ‘daughter of Mirkwood’ and, beyond that, we must leave you guessing!” the director wrote.
